Summer by the beck is inspired by the flowing water, reflections, and colour found in the Cumbrian fells. I often sit beside this beck, letting the rhythm of water and shifting light guide my brush. Painted in oil with expressive marks, this piece captures the constant motion of the landscape — where stone meets stream, and sky shimmers in the surface below. Turquoise, blue, and green ripple through the painting, with flashes of light evoking sunlight on wet rock and foliage. This is both a place and a feeling — a landscape in motion, held just long enough to witness it. As an artist, I believe places carry stories.
